ABOUT US

Our firmʼs motto is “Under Promise, Over Deliver”
~ ~ ~ Escape to Patagonia (ETP) is a specialized firm dedicated to helping foreigners apply for and obtain their temporary residency visa in Argentina that we call the Temporary Residency Service (TRS), and to assist our clients in their safe and tranquil relocation to our beautiful country. Our main focus for our Argentina Relocation Services (ARS) is the Northern Patagonia region of southern Argentina which includes the areas in and around the beautiful resort city of San Carlos de Bariloche and the rustic and picturesque valleys in and around El Bolsón, both in the southern province of Río Negro. What makes our Argentina Residency and Relocation Services completely different from all the rest is that we are the only firm that helps clients obtain their temporary residency visa without the usual lawyer rigmarole and hassles or their pay-by-the-hour fees or lawyer games: We offer a simple Flat Rate Price (FRP) that is only paid AFTER our clients obtain their temporary residency visa. We offer this complete 100% guarantee that if we cannot help our clients obtain their temporary residency visa, then they don't pay us anything. It is that simple and clear. |
After helping our clients obtain their temporary residency visa which includes helping them get their DNI (national identification document), we also will help them get their CUIL/CUIT (national work or self-employment identification document) and other legal documents as needed, including helping them set up a local bank account.
ETP provides complete ARS relocation services including recommendations for cargo shipping companies (to move household goods), temporary stays in Buenos Aires and in Northern Patagonia (hotels, apartments and housing), and other services as needed. ARS relocation services also work with dueños (private property owners), local inmobiliarias (real estate companies) and escribanos (licensed and legal notaries who legally finalize real estate sales) to help our clients discover and buy their dream casas and chacras (small farms) in the Northern Patagonia region. Buying real estate in the “Lake Districts” of Northern Patagonia can be very tricky for foreigners including those with temporary residency, so we provide “hand-holding” services to ensure a smooth buying experience. Our goal is to provide a complete, timely and premier class service for our qualified clients. |
OUR TEAM
______
"the primer"
aka "el Monje" David Chu, PE was born in Shanghai, China, grew up and went to University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and has worked as a licensed professional engineer and project manager for over 20 years throughout the United States.
He has successfully managed multi-million dollar projects in the energy power plant industry, and has invented and designed several inventions include a multi-million dollar product for a company in San Diego, California in the 1990's. David is also a writer on Argentina, geopolitics, economics, financial, alternative health, and alternative energy matters, and he is the author of a self-published ebook in August 2008 called "NO Foreclosures! ~ Guerilla Principles to Save Your Family and Stick It to the Banks!" He wrote the recent article, “Escape to Patagonia”, which form the basis of our firmʼs philosophy and purpose: to help people genuinely interested in relocating from places of danger or insecurity to Argentina. Mr. Chu acts as the intermediary between our clients and our internal company services (TRS and ARS). He also appears on talk radio, especially in the United States, to help promote our company and services: Radio Show 1, Radio Show 2. David has lived in beautiful Northern Patagonia, Argentina since August 2008 with his two dogs, and he loves his “slice of paradise” so much that he wants to share this magical region with the world. A wise wo/man waits, but s/he who hesitates is lost. It is always better to be a bit too early than a minute too late. |
"the perfect lawyer"
aka "la Señorita" Why are there more lawyer jokes than any other kind?
Is it because they are all sharks and that all lawyers lie, delay and cheat? That they act like and are regarded as being lower than used car salesmen? We'll leave you to answer that. The perfect lawyer seems only to exist on television and in the movies. Or in some far off country. If you know whose foto is pictured above, you know that she is a real lawyer and that she is pretty much close to perfection in many ways. Unfortunately, she doesn't practice immigration and visa law in Argentina. Sorry. The process of applying for temporary residency visas in Argentina is a bureaucratic and complicated one, if you don't know the hidden rules and unspoken regulations. It is, however, not an impossible one that would require a lawyer to do so successfully. In fact, no lawyer involved is much better. Our firm's philosophy is that it is not only possible, but highly probable to successfully obtain a temporary residency visa in Argentina without a lawyer's involvement. The keys are honesty, good faith, expertise, and experience. Hence, our complete 100% guarantee. |
OUR SERVICES
______
ETP offers 3 temporary residency visa categories to help our clients who are seriously thinking about relocating to Argentina. We provide a complete full-shop service in helping our clients obtain their temporary residency visa, called the Temporary Residency Service (TRS), from the initial consultation through to the final issuance of the temporary residency visa by Argentinaʼs Migraciones (Department of Immigrations).
The first temporary residency visa is called the “Rentista” (in Spanish) or “Financier” visa. To qualify for this temporary residency visa, the applicant is required to have a guaranteed minimum income or minimum passive investment income of at least $2,000 USD per month. The applicant must be able to prove this minimum monthly amount and have it documented by a certified public account (CPA) and/or other legal official, such as a bank official or lawyer. The second temporary residency visa is called the “Pensionado” or “Pensioner and Retiree” visa. To qualify for this second temporary residency visa, the applicant is required to have a guaranteed minimum pension or retirement income of at least $2,000 USD per month. And it has to be officially documented by the organization or company that is issuing the pension or retirement funds. ETP is mainly focused on the “Financier” and “Pensioner and Retiree” visa categories. There is another temporary residency visa category called “Student” visa available for qualified student applicants, please consult with us on this visa. |
Our Argentina Relocation Services (ARS) work with preferred quality shipping companies located in Buenos Aires to help our clients transport their household goods, including cars, from their current country to Argentina.
Usually, these companies give a minimum 10% commission to the referring company for referring clients to them, but we have asked them to give that minimum 10% commission as a discount to our clients instead. So, by utilizing one of ETPʼs preferred shipping companies, our clients will save a minimum 10% on their shipping costs. For temporary stays in Buenos Aires, San Carlos de Bariloche and/or El Bolsón, ETP has networked with preferred quality rental companies (hotels, apartments and housing) that will give a minimum 10% discount to our clients. In some cases and during certain seasons, the discount will be greater than 10%. ETP has also created a specialized service within ARS to help our clients in finding and purchasing local real estate. Buying private properties in the “Lake Districts” of Northern Patagonia (i.e., the San Carlos de Bariloche and El Bolsón regions) can be very tricky for foreigners including those with temporary residency, so we provide “hand-holding” services to ensure a smooth buying experience. And we make sure that our clients are not taken advantage of by the locals: dueños (private property owners), inmobiliarias (real estate companies), or escribanos (licensed and legal notaries who legally finalize real estate sales). |
OUR GUARANTEE
______
ETP does an initial consultation and qualification process with our potential clients which is free of charge. In fact, there are no fees except for a simple Flat Rate Price (FRP) for our TRS. Once we have determined that the client meets the minimum legal requirements to apply for the “Financier,” “Pensioner and Retiree,” or "Student" visa, and once our client decides to utilize our TRS, the next step is the signing of a simple one-page contract for visa services rendered.
Immediately after receipt of the signed and notarized contract, we begin the process of assisting our clients in gathering together all the necessary documents to apply for the temporary residency visa. ETP will then create complete step-by-step instructions and templates for all documents required in a PDF file called “Argentina Temporary Residency Visa Application Process” personalized for our client. Based on our clients passing our initial qualification process, ETP is confident of our abilities to help our clients obtain their temporary residency visas that we are willing to offer a complete 100% guarantee should Argentina's Department of Immigrations not approve the temporary residency visa application. Therefore, if Argentinaʼs Migraciones does not approve the temporary residency visa for whatever reason(s) and ETP cannot rectify the situation to the best of our abilities, our client will NOT pay us the FRP amount or anything. It is that simple and clear. There are many factors that ETP cannot control when it comes to dealing with the bureaucracy of Argentinaʼs Migraciones. So even though ETP cannot guarantee 100% success rate in obtaining temporary residency visas for our clients, what we can offer is our complete 100% guarantee as stated in the previous paragraph. |
This complete 100% guarantee is predicated on our clients meeting and fulfilling the following requirements:
Failure on the part of our clients to meet or fulfill any of the four above requirements will disqualify them from our complete 100% guarantee which means that we may terminate our TRS services with the client. In regards to the visa application timelines for the temporary residency visa, we cannot guarantee specific deadlines. Again, because we are dealing with the bureaucracy of Argentinaʼs Migraciones, there is no telling how long it takes for an application to be approved. However, an approximate estimate of the timeframe is somewhere between 4 to 9 months from start to finish, if we can obtain all the necessary documents in a timely manner. This time estimate of 4 to 9 months is NOT part of our complete 100% guarantee or any other implied or non-implied promises. |
OUR PRICE
______
ETPʼs Flat Rate Price (FRP) for our TRS service includes all the costs associated with helping our clients in obtaining their temporary residency visas, except for those noted below which are paid by our clients in their specific country.
This means that there are no extra fees or hidden costs. And remember that our TRS service is backed by our complete 100% guarantee (please see Our Guarantee above for more details) which means that our clients do NOT pay us anything if we cannot help them obtain their temporary residency visa. What the FRP Includes:
|
What the FRP Does NOT Include:
Other Expenses That Our Clients Typically Pay: Typically, our clients will pay the fees necessary to obtain their birth certificate, their police record, their marriage certificate, etc., and the notarization, apostillization, translation and legalization services required for each document. Depending on the country where our clients are located, we will give them specialized and detailed instructions about what notarization, apostillization, translation and/or legalization steps are necessary in their country, and the associated fees that need to be paid. |
SOME TESTIMONIALS

_____
Working with David was a joy ~ he answered our questions with knowledge, wisdom, and humor. His information is clear and concise and his services meant we began enjoying our trip before we left home, free of the stresses inherent in entering a new country “cold”. He definitely succeeded in fulfilling his company’s motto ~ “Under Promise, Over Deliver”!
~ The Gilberts, New Mexico, USA David is an amazing human being! ~ Kevin Green, Oregon, USA I am writing firstly to say how much I enjoyed reading your essay, and also to open communication for the purpose of making a business contact with a person living in a place that has captured my interest, that being El Bolsón. . . . You are a very good writer, and should do more. Of all the material I've read on Argentina, yours stands out. ~ Donald Hufnagel, Ontario, Canada |
My husband, son, and I had been exploring the idea of leaving the U.S. and relocating to a freer country with a lower cost of living for a while when we heard David's radio interview with Kevin Barrett about Northern Patagonia, Argentina. We were intrigued by David's description of the beauty, low cost of living, and relative freedom of Argentina compared to the U.S. When we contacted him, David spent a considerable amount of time discussing the merits of Argentina with us and answering our questions about life there and the immigration process.
Having lived in both communist China and the U.S. before immigrating to Argentina, David has a well-rounded understanding of the features we are looking for in a new home outside of the U.S. Although we ultimately ended up choosing to relocate to Ecuador, David's assistance was invaluable in helping us to narrow down our decision, and we would recommend his services to anyone considering a move to Argentina. ~ Sarah & Brian Walker, Florida, USA |
